i know that from living in japan for a couple of years.. its funny, i would answer the phone 'moshi moshi' then someone would start talking away in japanese to me so i would say 'nihongo wa wakarimasen' and they say..'oh' and hang up lol.. 'nihongo wa wakarimasen' just means 'sorry i don't understand japanese'.

We had to learn Japanese in school for a few years. I hated it, and have pretty much forgotten all of it since, but it seems a relatively straight foward language to pick up... makes more sense than English sometimes...

I used to post in the Spanish section o the Kamelot forum. It was pretty cool.

once i had an msn convo with someone where we would tell a story back and forth.. but using babelfish translating it back and forth between french and english.. for example, you type your story into the translator, then the french version it comes back with you post in the other persons msn box.. they post that into the translator and see what comes out, then doing the same thing type the continuation of the story.. because really babelfish sucks as a translator, the story turned very funny very quickly.. ah the good ol days..

I have done this exact same thing, though I believe we used German. For some reason there were lots of donkeys...
