I've just joined today. My name is Laura and I am an English teacher in Fukuoka in southern Japan. I'm an American national, grew up in Albany NY, but I've done that thing people do where they flee the country to find work.
I play violin and enjoy most variations of metal to some degree, some more than others. I have a particularly soft spot for atmospheric/melodic (usually not symphonic) black metal. When I can, I like to noodle around and make a little money playing at weddings, art shows etc.
As for nonmetal, I have a serious crush on '80s goth, post-punk, new wave, new romantic, disco, reggae, country, industrial/EBM, techno/house/electro, Lady GaGa, you name it.
