Anyone familiar with these guys? Fairly new power metal band from Brasil with classic metal influence from Maiden, Priest, etc.( of course ). Debut "Defying The Rules" is very good and rips from opening note til the end! They are currently mixing thier follow up cd.
I think they are excellent. If you like classic style metal with a more aggressive newer sound, these guys deliver!
Any comments? :kickass:

Yeah! I'm listening to their myspace right now and it's making me so happy. Fuckin' awesome power metal. :headbang:

Out of curiosity, has the lead singer been in any other bands? He sounds familiar for some reason.

Agreed, awesome Power Metal band and your description is pretty on target. One of those bands who aren't really doing anything new, but doing it at a level that you can't help but raise your fist to them!

I find it to be pretty progressive actually...IT'S A CONCEPT ALBUM ABOUT FUCKING MOTORCYCLE WARS FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

When I first heard about the concept and then saw the animated cover / artwork I thought, shit this is going to be fucking corny. Then I pressed play and it slayed!

every aspect of the band is of the highest quality.
the guitars, the riffs, the solos, the insane bass, the perfect drumming, and vocals that really cannot be beaten.
Song writing perfection

Ah, Hibria is from Porto Alegre, which is the capital of my state... like... only 30 minutes (45km) from my city.

They were set to open the Iron Maiden show in Porto Alegre in the beginning of march, but in the end, it wasnt possible.

They have some news on their website about their next album. Since I didnt found an english for the english version of the site, let me translate here:

Finalization of the new HIBRIA album

The new HIBRIA CD is already being mixed and mastered in Germany by ACHIM KÖHLER.

Achim was chosen due to his versatility, having worked with bands of different styles such as Amon Amarth, Sodom, Pink Cream 69 and Brainstorm. Achim Köhler was also responsible for the mixing and mastering of the album Devil's Ground by Primal Fear, and realized excellent works of remasterization of Death Metal titles, specially from the Nuclear Blast recordings.
Achim Köhler previous works make him the right person to finalize HIBRIA´s new CD, which brings compositions with a more contemporaneous, heavy and agressive approach.

Too bad they didn't get the Maiden gig.
I think this producer will get an even bigger/heavier sound from the band.

Decided to give this band a listen, next time I should wise up when people use the "power metal" labelling, as I didn't care for it at all. The rythm guitars are ok....the rest isn't really my thing. Hate the fucking vocals...solos and drums are great though.
