Im recording a demo with a Jackson V with EMG 85 active pickup at the bridge, a Mesa Boogie Roadking through the 1st Channel in FAT Mode and using a Boss Metalzone, and recording it to a Tascam 424 MK3. I keep getting this high hiss on all my tapes that wont seem to go away no matter how much i eq it. The DBX seems to help but i would rather eliminate this high end monster from the source. Any suggestions????

Is it actually on the recording itself?

If the DBX noise reduction is not on, then you will get lots of hiss on the recording. If it is on, play the tape and isolate each track and see if it's coming from the cassette. If not, check the unit itself.

If it's coming from your guitar tracks, I wouldn't be too surprised because the Metalzone pedal is pretty high gain. If you're not using a noise gate, you're going to have a lot of hiss on there.
