It's awesome that some feel that way about my playing and I appreciate it a lot. However when I play with Jeff he challenges me to be a better player, and I have the highest regard for his ability, so in my mind there is no better or worse just preference.

Thanks Chris.
P.S the one thing I love about playing with Jeff that this post brings to light is the dual guitar playing possibilities!!!!

i wonder if chris would join the band full time? yea, he kicks ass playing, but i thought the band said steve writes more "nevermoreish" type songs and thats what they need?

whatever, i just want them to find a permanent 2nd guitarist. steve has huge stage persence...thats missed. curran murphy also had HUGE stage presence..that guy was a monster on stage.

i just want nevermore to get heavier with each release and have a full time band!!!

chris, hope i can meet you in bochum at the dvd show.

Is Loomis guitarded in terms of theory, etc? Always wondered.

If so, there might be hope for me yet!

Chris, I think you're an excellent fucking guitarist man. I think it's great that you're filling in for Steve and as said above, I think Steve is an excellent player, don't get me wrong, but as far as technique, you're a more fulfilling player.

You should know better Zac... Chris aint' gonna answer this question. My 2 cents.... Chris is a well schooled musician, Loomis is an idiot sevant. In other words, I think Chris worked really hard to learn what he knows, whereas Loomis was just born with alot of natural ablity. Nature vs. Nurture?

Best wishes for Steve, but sometimes the show must go on as well. I would love to see Chris get the calling-think he could definitely broaden and challenge future Nevermore "works". It definitely seems like he's been there when needed, this is the second time filling in, so Chris has to be a step-up already knowing the songs and just knowing how he's going to mesh with the guys. One of the best things about Chris playing full time with Nevermore: it would increase his visability with more press and we could see him live more often - although it is cool to hear Chris have all the solo spots with Panzer. I definitely dig Chris' style a little more than Loomis' ( even though he's great ).I think Chris offers a wider range of techniques & styles that I love: String-skipping, tapping, arpeggios, classical, jazz, etc. I'm just looking forward to the live dvd and the now talked about live recording of a Jag Panzer show ( hope it's in Cleveland so I can go )!

Honestly I like Chris' work better than Loomis', but I can pick Jeff's playing out anywhere. That makes for a great combination though. When 2 guys instead of shadowing each other, but complement each other. :) I'm really close to Cleveland, so I'd be there.

Oh I know better alright.
But you know...I'll take the musician over the rockstar anyday. However, should someone discover a way to combine the both of them, that would be a great combo.

Whatya think? Do I take the rockstar route & get a lot of vag? Or my preferred route....the musician.

Rockstars always get more vag.

Closest thing to both would be Steve Vai.

Would Chris take the position if it was offered to him by Nevermore?
I think they should fire Jeff and use Chris full time, then they wouldn't need two guitarists!

Pretty funny thread.
I think we are all on the same page.

A cacophony thing Loomis - Broderick would be great but in this
day and age it has to be technically better than Cacophony or
Racer X IMO . That's going to be a bitch.

WTF???????? Nevermore without Jeff Loomis isn't Nevermore.
Now don't get me wrong I think Chris is an amazing player, and I mean
amazing, I love his playing, but open your eyes, Jeff is by no means a "hack" he's pretty amazing as well, and he does a lot of little things that a lot tougher to pull of than they sound plus I believe he and Warrell do most of the writing.
If you're not a Nevermore fan then "no big deal" but if you are, as I am, then that would change the sound of the band and it really wouldn't be Nevermore anymore.
Just like Aerosmith tried to replace Joe Perry when he quit, it wasn't the same, and let me tell you Jeff's shoes are a hell of a lot bigger to fill the Joe "hack" perry.
but Joe and Steve do all the writing, they are the heart and soul of Aerosmith, jut like Jeff and Warrel are the heart and soul of Nevermore.
I think its' great that chris is playing with Nevermore, what great exposure (I had never even heard of him before this most recent stint with nevermore) and now he's one of my favorite players, if he and Jeff decide to split more leads then great I'd love to see it..................but replace Jeff:lol: I don't think so

Well honestly i dont think steve has left the band ... at least not from what hes told me. So he is still a FULL TIME member, hes just unable to tour.

No offence to Chris at all but i really do think steve is a better fit for the band. The cacophony things been done, its 80s style ....lets leave it there, the last thing we need is nevermore becoming a lets just shred guitar all day like Dragon Force band.

Chris does amazing work with JP and i cant imagine the band without him. Chris is the perfect fit for JP, now if chris can talk Mr Metal God vocalist to stop screaming and sing more it would be perfect :p

I love JP and I love nevermore, and honestly TGE is nevermores best work to date in my opinion and i firmly believe its cause of steves input.

JP has been amazing since chris has been writing more of the tunes....

Why ruin both bands with guitar wankery .....

Its all about the music, the wankery just makes it better :p

good post guru I agree on all points. :kickass:
Now I'd be interested in hearing a CD with Chris involved in the writing as well
to see if it went in a different direction than previous nevermore CDs but I think
Jeff and Steve mesh well together when they write.
Jeff and Chris may as well but we haven't seen it yet.

No question he fits in live , shit Chris is an amazing guitarist,
has become one of my favorites over the last year.
How Chris and Jeff write together is what I'd be interested in hearing.
Steve writes in a very "Nevermore" style so he fits right in.
Jag Panzer is very different from Nevermore.
I'm sure it would kill but would it be very different sounding (which isn't neccessarily a bad thing either?)
I'm real interested to see how Nevermore handles their next album.
who's going to do what?
If Steve still can't tour (poor guy, what a fucking bombshell to find something out like that) are Steve and Chris going into studio? will Jeff just handle all the guitar work? I'd love to see all 3 of them collaborate, would probably come up with some killer songs.

from what i have heard, about both, nevermore and jag panzer, the songs are written by a person alone.. then, the vocalist come and put their work on top. that´s at least what briody, and warrel said in interviews... so i don´t really believe that the 3 of them, or even 2 of ´em will write new stuff together....naa, u never know ;)

oh, and even IF steve won´t be able to tour, he´ll for sure be able to record, as he is doing at the moment (see his forum)..

on the other hand, i think chris would be able to come up with some nevermorish music, as the songs he wrote on Casting the Stones, seem very influenced by jeffs rhythm work for me!!!!

instead of speculating, i will just wait, what comes ahead. because at the moment, steve is in. an chris is tour guitarist. which is cool, because i saw him 2 times this year (wacken and dvd recording gig in bochum)!!! i saw nevermore with steve last year or so..
when things get solved, i talk again about that, but until then... i will just wait.
