Anyone else grab this? It's a step up from "Venus Doom" but still below "Dark Light" & RazorBlade Romance."

Looking forward to the show at Center Stage in May.

Dark Light was a MAJOR guilty pleasure of mine a few years ago.
It's just a great dark metal disc with good pop sensibilities.

I really haven't followed them too much the past couple of discs though.

Venus Doom seemed so by-the-numbers, that I had decided that having Razorblade Romance and Dark Light probably gave me everything I need by the band. In fact, Razorblade Romance would probably be enough.

Should be an interesting show, and an interesting crowd. Be sure to load up on accessories and makeup at Hot Topic before you go!

major fail. :Smug:

I use to doubt HIM until I saw them live once and I was impressed. The band adds a few musical tweaks to their live show. Heard some solo fills here and there that really caught my ear and the guys had good presence and great control.

My comment was related to the crowd that will be at the show (where I'm sure Glenn will look and feel like a dirty old man....more than usual, I mean), and wasn't a reflection on the band at all.

In fact, I'd like to see 'em.

Thats awesome that you like HIM Glenn as they are one of my favorite bands over the last 10 years. My fiance and I got engaged at a HIM show after making it to Progpower didn't work out that year (I got down on one knee in what would be the pit area at most shows, almost dropped the damn ring). I like everything they've done, but as usual with most bands, older is better, for the most part. Around "And Love Said No" is probably my favorite period. Got the new one in the mail yesterday but haven't listened to it yet. Definitely looking forward to going to the show up here at the Rave (and trying not to gawk).

I picked it up earlier this week. I have been a fan for about six years now. But I must say that I am starting to think there is little variety in their music. I'm just not feeling this one like the older ones. Dark Light is my fav. And love the ones before it. Just thinking they are getting a little stagnant. But am not giving up on them though.

Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights is my favorite and i enjoyed Venus Doom a lot since it's title suggested a slight change in their sound. For me Dark Light was boring following Deep Shadows and Razorblade. The new album is fun. i picked it up with the new Fear Factory and have come to find about 6 songs on it i am spinning the hell out of. It always interesting to hear what kind of twists a producer can add to a band's already established sound.

My daughter absolutely loves this band! I heard that there's a spring tour scheduled and for us it looks like NYC is the closest show.
