...not to mention all the more well known bands...
Yea well i was talking about 60s psychedelic bands :loco:

Threads like this are very valuable to the forum, especially the newer members with less exposure to a diversity of musical styles (ex: yours truly). This is good shit. I will definitely be checking out many of these bands, as I was aware of this style but have very little exposure to it.

Also, the heavier end of the psych/garage rock spectrum of the 60s were strongly influencial on heavy metal if my sources are to be believed, so that's cool!

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. It's got the hits on it, "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit", but the rest of the album is really good too.

I'd hardly call budgie a hippy band haha
for thier time theyre pretty fucking heavy
excellent band though, thanks for the reminder!

I also love classic rock like Cream, the Who, hendrix along with the general prog thing

can't really think of too many bands drippy / pansy enough for this thread though.
most of what you would think off as being uplifting would be pop rather than rock.
I mean white rabbit is a fucking scary song haha

I used to have a few comps of 60's happy stuff but I couldn't name too mant bands off it , except maybe quo's matchstick men era, traffic etc

Brian Eno - Deep Blue Day. Music for moonwalking.

Although completely unrelated to the whole hippie/60s/classic rock discussion (no mention of the Doors yet? Too obvious perhaps), great tune, and the Apollo album has both uplifting and dark material on it. And I agree about White Rabbit being creepy and second the Satori recommendation.
