To me the best influence a metal band can have is early Iron Maiden. If you sound like that then you can't go too far wrong. This band is mostly Maiden but with hints of Priest as well. Their album is out this year and is called First Strike With The Devil. There are a few songs on youtube but my faves are these two. The singer is heavily accented and nothing special but he's ok for the band.
