Holy Blood

Yes, right, why don't we put up an individual topic for each band Opeth fans "might" like, then, us being so overly open-minded and all? But, I'm not going to waste my time arguing about something I wanted to forget anyway.

sure, don't waste your time by posting a 3rd time in this thread :p

Some of us enjoy hearing about bands other Opeth fans like, and have discovered new favorites in this way. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this experience. If you aren't into that, then leave us be.

Because Opeth fans, beleive it or not, like other music. How can someone be overly open-minded? Please don't waste your time :).

Of course Opeth fans like other music, I'm not claiming the opposite, am I? I personally love all Opeth albums, but that really isn't all I listen to, you know. What I tried to point out (in addition to my dislike for HB) was that I don't understand why people put up a thread for every "new band they've just discovered". There is a bunch of "bands Opeth fans might like" threads around here, anyway. Sure I understand individual threads for bands like Porcupine Tree who share much of the fan base of Opeth, but I think none of you would say bands like Holy Blood are anything close to that.

What comes to being overly open-minded, then... Frankly, out of my own experience I can say that many so-called "Opeth fans" that I've met consider themselves "as open-minded as a human being can be concerning music". And that's what I consider "overly open-mindedness". Anyway, there's 24 on the telly, I'd better waste the next hour there.

 you dislike the band so you're mad that someone made a thread inviting others to give them a chance? that's lame dude. I haven't liked every band recommended on this forum, but I have liked a majority, which is enough for me to check out anything someone feels like posting about. How is PT, a prog/pop rock band, more like Opeth than a dm/bm band? Just because Mikael and Steven are buddies and swap around guesting? I think this thread is perfectly legit here, as are all the more obscure references such as the dredg, oceansize, anathema, etc threads.

As many people pointed out, we ENJOY the fact that other people who enjoy Opeth share other music with us. I have discovered many new bands through this concept on the forum.

If you think we're to open-minded, go to hell! We certainly don't mind being open minded.

If you don't like this band, thats fine, but don't start discouraging others from checking out this band.

(@ Powers: it was called something with extol and christian death metal in it ..)

I also like the talk about other bands, as long as it doesn't get out of hand :) wich it doesn't ... thanks for mentioning this band I guess, but I have to agree with Corpinen: nothing special about it. I've heard this kind of stuff like a million times before, and I've heard a lot better amongst that million. but like I've said, perhaps the christian thing is a bigger part of the reason it's being posted here since there are many people here it seems that give christian metal more attention than others ... if this band would have been satanic, I'm sure more than half that have said they liked this band would have stated otherwise ...

It's the sequel so far as i know.

Anyhow we're getting off topic. Your opinions on Holy Blood the band please.

Sorry for being off-topic but I felt I had to correct a few things.

The book is called "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" and it was written 15-20 years before the Da Vinci Code by different people, so it's obviously not a sequel.
It's also written in a different style, not as fiction but a semi-serious study on the same subject. It was likely a big inspiration to the Da Vinci Code.

I apolagise. I really did think it was the sequel. There is a sequel i'm sure, just can't think what it's called.
