Hot Chicks in bands NOW ON TOUR! *lol spin off from amaranthe thread

I think it's funny that THIS tour got the "hard rock" tag because Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, and The Gathering -- who got tagged with "metal" -- pretty much are hard rock these days. And even though ITM are commercial, I think the "hard rock" tag even for them is rather underwhelming...
I think that may be part of it, but I think it may also have to do with they fact that among the fans of publications like Revolver (and hell, even the majority on Blabbermouth), the train of thought seems to be that anything heavy with female vocals, excluding maybe Arch Enemy, can't be metal and is only heavy enough to be labeled hard rock. So to avoid a lot of backlash from their primary fanbase the publication has chosen what they thought would be a less controversial name for the tour.

Also, Revolver has been doing "The Hottest Chicks in Metal" thing for a few years, maybe they thought the would open up their marketing to more people who may have some sort of stigma associated with metal by using the label of "hard rock" instead.

Personally, I would classify the bands on this tour as follows, but others may disagree (as is typical with sub-genre placement in this scene):

In This Moment = metalcore (This is how they were introduced to me, this is how I still think of them. I'm not usually a big fan of any music that involves the syllable "core," although their debut album "Beautiful Tragedy" seemed to have more of that quality than the 2nd album, which seemed more melodic, but I liked "Beautiful Tragedy" so much more. I have not heard the full 3rd album yet, so the band could have drastically changed for all I know.)

Straight Line Stitch = metalcore (Self described as a mixture of metal and hard rock, they use a mixture of clean vocals and screams. I've only heard a few songs of theirs so I might be off-base on this one.)

System Divide = metal (I've seen them described as a extreme metal and melodic death metal. They use a mixture of clean female vocals and male screams. Again, I've only heard a few songs of theirs.)

Sister Sin = metal/hard rock (To me, this one depends on how you classify Motley Crue. Sister Sin is basically a Motely Crue style band with a very straightfoward female vocalist - no opera, no growls, just kick-ass fist-pumping metal. I absolutely love this band and, even though they only have 2 album out, really wish they had a higher spot on the bill.)

I think they're releasing a new one this year, though - they just put up a (rather silly) YouTube update a few days ago.
Hmmm ... I will have to check this out. Thanks for the heads up. Is this the "update" you are referring to?

I also noticed this while viewing the above video. It says it's a low quality version, so maybe this is the song they were referring to release in a better quality version in the update video above. Either way, it doesn't sound too bad to me:

Nothing else to say. Well, Milton's been really obnoxious lately.
