Hot Soss

Franks-Hot-Sauce.jpg

This stuff never lets me down.

I used to be a hot sauce nut; wasn't hot enough unless I was hurting myself. Still like it, but more as an accent than to take over the food. That being said, Franks is weak as hell. That was my go-to breakfast hot sauce, barely any heat at all.

That's pretty much the same with me, and the reason i recommend Franks. Doesn't "crush" the rest of the foods taste and goes well with pretty much anything.

Only other ones i fuck with regularly are Tapatio and Sriracha, and neither one of them tastes better than Franks. Or even comes clos tbh.

Hot sauce connoisseuring has always been in the back of my mind since a friend in college introduced me to some fruity ones and other weird flavors. If anyone's into those and has recommendations, I might finally start a collection at home. The basic red pepper stuff kinda bores me, though I do enjoy the chipotle sauce some Chipotles keep at the bar.

Also welcome back D&B. We've been getting some good old-timers back on the boards here lately.

My current fave is El Yucateco Black

Beautiful smoky flavour and just the right amount of heat. Any of the El Yucateco range are pretty good apart from the Chipotle which I find a bit too fiery for the flavour.

This shit is the shit! Funny to see an Australian have the best taste in hot sauce in here.

I like hot sauce a lot. Old photo of my collection:

I've got a fair few different ones now and that pic is obviously before I discovered El Yucateco Black. A mate bought me back a couple from Mexico which are really nice. The Goya Chipotle 4th from the left was my fave Chipotle ever but the Spanish market I go to stopped stocking it after I bought that one bottle and I've never found it again. Cholula Chipotle is really nice also.
