Hey guys, I just finished recording a song but the hi hat is annoying me and I don't know what to do. In this track I have an Audix F15 sdc on it, I've tried a Shure SM57 with the same results but I feel like I'm getting a really bad room sound or something.

Also, is this because of the room, mic, or the hi-hat itself?

Thanks & Godbless.

The hi hat itself sounds pretty decent, but I can definitely hear some nasty room filtering on it. Same with most of the cymbals, there's too much early reflections, making them sound trashy. What kind of room are you recording in?

In my living room, it's a fairly big room. I'm not experienced enough to hear it on the cymbals but the hi hat is just bothering me.

Edit; I can't really put up bass traps and acoustic treatment in my living room where I record, so is there anything else I could do?
