The "o" is like the "u" in "purse" or the "e" in "person" for us Canadians.The "eer" thing has to do with saying it in modern Swedish, kind of like how some say Oden rather than Odin. Odin and Mjoellnir is the correct way to say the words in Icelandic and Old Norse, whereas the Oden and Mjoellner version is the current Swedish pronounciation. The "o" is supposed to be an "Umlaut", like in German, and the "i" is an i if you prefer it,or an e if you'd rather.
