How Does This Mix Sound?

First of all... this sounds CLEAN! i like that a lot... very clean and sorted..

That being said, the clean part at the beginning is maybe a bit too loud for the distorted parts to come in with the impact you probably meant for them.

The part around 2:17 is amazing.. old school riffage.. guitars sound ace!

Overall.. great sound!

I'd lower the clean parts in the intro, thicken up that lead tone a tad, but everything else is awesome!

I keep hearing King Diamond vox over this, and I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.

yeah guitars sound cool matt. Just a tiny timing issue on the chug lead up at the start, and overall a bit to 'guitar focused'. Bit more 'snap and space' in the drums wouldn't hurt.

awesome chug though :kickass:

OK, thanks for the suggestions and kind words, guys. I fine-tuned it a bit with your suggestions in mind, and I think it's pretty happening now. Drums are slamming through a little better. I uploaded the new mix to the same URL above.

Very cool....good work....minor (and I mean minor) timing issue at the intro chug.......I almost feel like you can make the intro clean stuff way lower....

Yeah, the intro clean could go down a bit...
The beginning of the melody could also go a bit up, as well as toms, and bass guitar could use a dB or two up...
That cleans around 3 minute mark are too low as well IMO.

Killer guitar sound, Matt - meaty in all the right places!
I wish I had your equipment...

hmmm...the clean guitar on the right side in the beginning...it sounds like it's clipping...

do any of you guys hear it?

but..it does sound very clean, heavy where it needs to be...maybe the toms could come up a bit... but overall, very cool!

Hey Matt, nice work.

Here's my thoughts: It's got that patented "Matt Smith" rhythm guitar sound for sure. Great stuff. Very in your face & great bite.
Drums need some work. It's not a bad sound, per se, I just think the hi toms could use more defintion & the snare could use a little more bite as well.
Another idea: get a great big verb happening on the low toms during the breakdown around 1:30. Right now you've got "junnnnnnnn tick tick" it should be freakin' cannons there.

My only other gripe is that the single lead line at 1:00 seems a little thin. I'm not sure what you can do with it at this stage, but if you've got a dry track, try reamping at a much fatter setting on your amp.

Don't read too much into this... I'm only nitpicking. Overall, it's some great work. Keep it up.
