how get this fat bass guitar sound

no thats not impossible.

copy the bass track and

Lowpass one at ~250 maybe lower
highpass one at ~500 maybe higher :)

compress the lowpassed channel

The highpassed one you get through a GUITAR amp sim (i think podfarm is best for bass sounds - the best one in this case is imo the brit J-800) Make sure you dont apply the gain on the bass frequences [so the highpass filter must be set well] since you want no fuzzy sound. EQ and remove a bit of 4k.

then route both on one channel Compress the hell out of it - eq again - remove the frequences you dont like and done :)

hope i helped you :)

no u dont have to play the bass twice since you split it in 2 parts Highs and Lows. Just create two empty tracks and insert the same Recording in both.

so one track with the low pass and the another with hight pass.

no gain in tracks? or a 3 track with a little gain?

dont no if i get you right but you have to add the amp sim with much gain (50 - 70%) to the track with the highs. but like i said take care that there are no deep frequences left cause it would be fuzzy then and you want something tight.

and sry if no one understands me :) - my english is not the best :)

Try one beefy track which is fairly clean...blended with a duplicate of it with not much low end and some nice top end grit on it. Like opposites of each other which compliment to create the final tone.
