i wrote this brochure when first started working here. (almost 3 years ago). i wrote it my first month. it was triple checked for problems and was deemed 'good' by 3 attorneys.

the director of my department has been 'reviewing it' since then. she's made no changes. she's asked no questions (except to ask me what 'intestate' means).
in the meantime, some thousand some odd clients don't get to see this thing because she's i dunno... a jerk?

wtf?

i hate complaining about my job but i am just confused about taking 3 years and then vaguely telling me 'i just have some concerns i need to address'.

well she doesn't have access to ethics brochures so who knows?

also, i had a client today say it was annoying to bother using condoms or to tell people he's hiv positive so he doesn't bother.

today is one of those days

i'd say at least 35-40% of the clients here are in that level of our 'harm reduction' plan. meaning they don't disclose to partners their HIV status and they don't have safe sex.

(all my clients are HIV+ fyi)

yea. see normally i understand that this is just how the world works. but admitted i was more taken aback at this comment because (a) this guy is 25 (b) he's straight (c) he hangs out in the same circles i sometimes do (d) he is a semi-well known hipster

I would get too maudlin.

for instance:
one of my coworkers works every year with special olympics. he's a huge asshole but he just has this gift for working with the kids with problems. I would see all this unfulfilled potential and feel like shooting myself. He is able to laugh off the crazy stuff this innocent kids to...

Retarded kid: Mister Martin! Mister Martin!!!!
Martin: What, Jimmy? Can't you see I'm busy?
Retarded kid: But Mister Martin!!!
Martin: okay, Jimmy, what's wrong?
Retarded kid: Mister Martin, I just shit my pants!
