How to destroy a classic

that's not a cover lol that's the original tune just revamped lol
I had to manually recreate the toms adding samples to 5 tracks of toms (yeah lars used a tons of toms back then), the performance is all original!!
Original guitar tracks/bass, I just cut that annoying 3khz muddy shit that the album had.
I threw in a black album sample for both kick and snare hahahh to give it a 91 feel lol

Ok, so i do get to lol in this thread!
Cool mix kaomao, it sounds really fresh now, i though you did all the guitars and stuff and used the vocals from rock band files only, guitars do sound a bit different and so do the drums, nice.

I put lol because I know some purist will piss at me for having put samples and shit
Anyway glad you like it, now it's not muddy as it was before lol

EDIT:
yeah I used rockband files, but you know the stems with both OH's and toms mixed together sucked so much.
Even if you duplicate the OH's track and isolate the toms, the OH's are too high in that stem so you can hear too much Hihat going on.
It was a boring work to go through the song and put samples at the right place.
I think Lars was really consistent at the time and I loved his fills nobody played like him, putting that kind of fills back then, he really played along the riffs, awesome.
In the end I love this song

It would be great to have all the tracks ready to be mixed again, but at least I want the separate tom tracks, believe me it was boring to recreate those ones.
I used samples off the black album (snare) and a kick I made distorting a kick (clipping it) toms are Andy's chimaira toms, plus the fifth one is the 4th one pitchshifted down a bit.

cheers

Cool... Although the guitars are a bit boxy, the OHs are either too loud or need some EQing as to not be so piercing. The tom levels are a bit down compared to the kick/snare level (gets noticeable in tom runs), also the kick is not my cup of tea...

Otherwise it's a cool idea and it's nice to see what a modern production of this song would kinda sound like! Thumbs up!! :D

woa!!! I was really hoping for some kind of youtube loser trying to cover the song or something... seriously... this is really rocking. A really great "preview" of what it could be if it was re-recorded today... Although it is not perfect since it's impossible since you have to work with the stems... but seriously it's rocking!!! Although I think the toms could go up a bit, and the OH's a little down. Rest me likez it!

Boxy? those guitars have no mids at all lol how can they be boxy?
For the rest you're totally right, I could have mixed it better.

Yeah you're right. Something just felt weird about the guitars, I'm guessing it's too much high-end. Dunno why the term boxy fell :D:D Otherwise you did a great job, but I guess I'm just a bit used to the original so it sounds a bit I dunno, too modern? I think it actually shows at the vocals that it's not a modern recording so if everything else is modernized, it sounds odd!

Oh btw, the backing vocals when they say "Battery", they're just great! That's very well mixed! :D

is it me or the symbals are cutting on some riffs.. like the decay of the hihat right after the kick/symbal punch
