I'm doing a cover of the song with a friend and no matter what I do, I just can't replicate that sound. We've tried multitracking... adding a shitload of delay and reverb effects, but nothing seems to nail it. Anybody know the secret?

The lead tone I use on my GNX pedal sounds a lot like it...Ill check it;s properties later today and post in here because I gotta go to school now.

lol moonlapse its funny you ask that.. i got it almost nailed with my shitty line6 pos. the trick? i monitor the sound through cubase and use the post EQs. Its pretty close...

Yes, it's a Hammond, it's even stated in the booklet. Fredrik Nordström played it.

Moonlapse, im assuming you have the backing chords since you are going to cover the song. would you mind posting them in lead sheet form or something? (that means the chord names)

Dark Hunter has got it - that's the same chords I tabbed out. Thanks alot for the offer to do the Epilogue guitars suislide, but we've already done it. I'm not too happy with the tone... we were using a small Vox pathfinder and I just couldn't get the level of desired punch... even though its multitracked to all hell. The problem now is finding a soundfont that sounds like the Hammond organ used. As it is, the synths are sounding pretty cheap.

Overall, I'm not very happy, and I doubt it'll get posted up here when it's done.

Well.. i found out the actual chords to the rythym guitar, most of the ones posted here are right, but i think otherwise.

since im still bad with chord names:

e-0-0-----3-7-7-2-0-
b-3-2-----3-8-7-3-2-
g-4-2-----4-9-9-4-2-
d-4-2-----5-9-9-4-2-
a-2-0-----5-7-7-2-0-
e-----2/3-3----------

obviously, figure out the strumming to yourself. but those are the chords i use.

We just used simple MIDI, which was tracked in Guitar Pro. As I said: very unconvincing. Soundfonts is a system set up for Creative soundcards (Soundblaster Live and onward...) where you can overlay your default MIDI instruments with downloaded ones... for instance real sampled instruments.

I haven't been able to find a convincing hammond organ soundfont which comes free however.

Hope that helps somewhat.
