mixed in some bass drops in one of Minerva's song's, the mix isn't perfect (mainly the drums) but I think i mixed the bass drops in perfectly. it's the joey sturgis one with some tweaking. here's a clip of the song with a drop...

Your mix kinda lacks low mids and sounds rather harsh to me, bdrum is too clicky imho.. I'd rather try to first get a good mix instead of blasting everything with bass drops..

i know, i stated that the mix wasn't perfect, this is strictly a "rate my bass drop" thread. you are right the bass drum is a little too clicky and loud, but i'm not asking for anyone's opinion on the mix itself, just the bass drop.

the point is that a lot of people have a hard time making a bass drop sound good without pumping or clipping, and i finally got it to fit in good without any issues according to my ears, so I wanted to see if other people think it sounds good. i mixed it with headphones then bounced it to hear it through my living room stereo that has a sub and it sounds great. just want to hear other opinions man.

and it's the Joey Sturgis sup drop that you buy off his website, so i can't post it for download. i did do some tweaking to it though.

Putney has mad talent and just because he chose to make the drops on the Structures CD retardedly loud and distorted, doesn't mean it was a 'mistake'.

it's art bro. sometimes hideous things can be beautiful.......in the CORRECT context.

as for this thread, yeah it sounds okay but i think it really only fits because the mix is almost tailored for the bombs.... you're lacking a lot of low freq. info in the entire mix so....

get it slammin and brutal and THEN try to fit a drop in there.... =D

i really don't have any advice or secrets to this, only thing i do that may be different from some is I put the bass bombs in during the early stages of the mix so that I can keep them in mind and in check....

Doesn't it though? Bass drops shouldn't be distorted. They're just clipping. I was in turntable the other day and someone started playing Encounter... Nearly impossible to listen to. Swear to god. It was horrible.
