Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 5 - Anyone have any experience with low watt amps?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with low watt amps such as the Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 5 or Orange Tiny Terror?
I recently impulse bought a Tubemeister 5 in the hope of using its Redbox DI out to record some quick guitars when demoing.
I have had a fair bit of success but was wondering if any other forum users advice on the matter.



--- just as a size comparison to my normal live rig, the thing is tiny and only 4kgs!

I got to play a Tubemeister 18 briefly on the 5w setting (along with it's single V30 speaker cabinet option) last week, as it arrived to a student of mine (guy who wants it for rock-ish stuff, very usable for that too, IMO).

The amp sounded quite nice, and I was able to push the drive into metal territory (well, at least for home use at 5w) even with the two rather low-end guitars I got to try it with.


About the DI option I wasn't able to try that yet though, it would be interesting to hear clips, if you have any.
