Hurray

Alright here's my halfassed review:
The performances of the singers, especially the lead soprano, were great. Sets were impressive. Only complaint about the opera is that the plot was kind of stupid.

Well, it is Opera. As much as I enjoy Opera I find it diffiulct (at times) to be moved by it, as some can. Vocal beauty tends to be much more subdued for me, I suppose Opera does not speak my emotional language.

Which is binary, for the interested.

Well that's because Wagner was nuts. I think he was predisposed to see our entire struggle as either epic or pointless. Plus, Nietzsche touched him at night.

I'm not actually familliar with La Triviata. To be fair, there is only a portion of the "plot" on opera that I can usually get into, it's definitely more an atmospheric appeal to me.

Absolutely. I approach it holistically as an aural and visual experience, not necessarily as one where a narrative can rock my world.
