I know it's sort of taboo,
but I'm finally getting to the point in my abilities
that I'd like to get some shit started with my friends,
and I wanna cover Attachment to the Ancestor,
by Hypocrisy, from Osculum Obscenum.
I tried to decypher the lyrics,
and am sure I'm at least 90% correct,
as I referenced the alternate version (track 17 on the digipak).
Please email any possible corrections to

Attachment to the Ancestor
(Osculum Obscenum)
Track no. (8 / 17) lyrical variations
______________________________________________________

Crippling (rage/ways)
of religious adversary
of indivisive war
(are / is) now captivated.
"Mausoleums set up are left
to destroy!",
the audience cries.
Honor is seldom the gate
to touch
the heart of the ancestor.

(8-We'll) Pick the rites
to complete.
Sick is alive with the
soul of (the) daughter of youth,
my power.
Force of predecessor, (pronounced predeseer)
the time has come;
but we will live the life
of the unveiled
christ.

I wanna see you (turn your back / trust your book).
Know when it's time to die.
(read /leave it) in the book of lies.
The darkness is my (damnation/salvation).

You want to see eternal life?
Don't take the refuge, you're mine.
Christianity will save your soul, but
you will be exposed to (ebony/honey).

Run!

((siren) / Ahh!)

personally those make NO sense to me, and the 'be exposed to honey' line is just hilarious.

I'm working on the corrections now

????????????
A religious adversary
of indivine prophet
is now captivated.
Mausoleums set up on the Earth
to destroy.
The audience cries.
Under the soft Earth it came
to touch the mighty ancestor!

:D

that totally doesn't match up with both versions of the song
on the obsculum obscenum digipak. did you listen to both
versions in trying to decypher, or just the official recording?

of course I played both

the only difference is 'are/is'

I think he skips over syllables, like the end of prophet, but I think you're correct. Any guess on the first line? And any progress on the rest?

didn't bother to play the rest, figured if you thought I was wrong on the first, you wouldn't like my interpretation of the second.

I'll give it another crack some time tho

i listen for the musical content, not the lyrical.

the lyrics are a nice touch but its the music that counts.

I agree for the most part, I'm like that with a lot of bands and genres, but with a band like Hypocrisy who have so many catchy songs, ya kinda wanna know the lyrics just to more fully enjoy the songs :headbang:

indeed. perhaps i was being too judgemental, lyricism is one the many dimensions of music and songwriting.

Personally I don't often sing along to my favorite songs, but I have no disdain for those who do.

Covering the song is why I want to know the exact lyrics, but I love screaming and growling along. It helps relieve aggression, and helps me wake up in the morning, and helps me burn myself out so I can sleep at the end of a long day. I thoroughly believe lyrics to be an extremely important part of the art that is music. Whereas the rest of the audial excretions typically influence emotions primarily, it is in the lyrics that one finds the means to adjust the everyman's perceptions to one's own whims. Good old subtle psychological manipulations, eh? I love being me.

You never feel the need to growl along to let the knife do the talking!! I think the lyrics are very very important I love the lyrics on Virus they are maniacal and crazy, Its really fun when you kinda mutter the lyrics to blooddrenched with someone next to you and they start looking at you funny especially when you get to the part where he says something about a baptism of cum.:headbang:

fuckin aye!

man I love the delivery on that song so much

the whole
Are you too blinded to see me
I think I know what you need
I’ll crucify you for your disbeliefs
Buried lies that you kept I’ll pull it out of your flesh
And you will never sin again

it just sounds so wicked :headbang:

I hate vocalists who just seem to arbitrarily throw lyrics over a song, this is a great example of how it should be done.
