I got bored and posted a drum video

Great video dude!

I must ask if you ever have any mistrigger problems when just using triggers for tracking like you do?

Do you set up any special way like just putting the trigger on so the sensor is just touching the drum skin or put them all the way on as far as they would go?

I know with my old drummer we put foam in the drum shells to deaden the vibration when he used his alesis dm5 and worked like a charm. Just curious your aproach on it with drums....

on kick drum, i fill it very very full of pillows and blankets. Helps keep from misfiring live, and it helps quite the kick down in the studio to keep it out of the overheads.

On the toms, i have the trigger so it just touches the head(not crammed down on it). The little foam thingy isn't compressed much(if at all). Then i put a compressor before drumagog in the chain and compress the heck out of trigger so the soft hits are picked up, and the hard hits are tamed down and dont double trigger it. It takes a while to get down, but it works out well once it's all sorted. I also tape a folded tissue on the top head to keep it from vibrating too much.

If i was triggering with an alesis dm5, i would do it differently though.

I have always put the trigger so it was smashing the little blue sponge. I'm gonna give it a try your way and see if it helps and maybe try and run drumagog when tracking a band. Thanks for the info....

Great stuff! Loving the drum sound, and I really dig that it's all triggers + OH since I was looking into getting such a setup with the drummer in my band. Now all I need is some Slate samples!

And I can't believe no one asked this yet, but what did you use for the guitar sound?

EDIT: And also, how do you run your triggers live?

its a recording
he could have replaced it after the fact
the video is just sync'd with the audio

but either way, you can run drumagog live

you'll notice on the tom build up in the middle of the song there's no dynamics and missings hits

JUST GOING TO ASK.

The guitar sounds good for just one track. Gelatinous!

yeah i just recorded a video of the drum take, then sync'd it up with the mp3 of the song i recorded. Eeezy peezy

The tom fill definitely doesnt have missing hits though. I hit 6 times in the video, and i hear 6 hits. I also did use 3 or 4 different dynamic samples in drumagog for that part on each tom(can't really tell though i guess)

Yeah, that wasn't at all what I was talking about. Since he mentioned on the page before that he also runs triggers when playing live, I wondered what kind of setup he had for that.

Just curious on which kick samples you liked
as the drummer of my band has the same module but the sample he's using now is bleehhhhh
and which one for the 808?
Thanks dude!

if the sound system sux, i use the speed metal kick(kick 8 on my module) tuned to +1. If it's a good sound system with a decent sound guy, i use reggae kick(kick 23) tuned to +3.

for my 808, i use rap wave(kick 48) tuned to -3 or -4(depending on the subs when i'm sound checking)
