My uncle died recently, and as I was helping to clear his house, I stumbled upon amateur footage of various musical acts.

Most of the bands he filmed have since faded into oblivion, but about half an hour of footage features Ozzy on stage with Randy Rhoads. (They're on an outside stage and Randy is wearing a red outfit.)

Is it possible to make any money off of this? Part of me wants to post it on Youtube for the fans, but I really need money. . . .

Part of me wants you to post it as well! Haha - but I understand tough times are tough times.

Send me an email at deron@ultimatemetal.com - I am going to contact someone for you to see if a particular person is interested.

Would you have any other details about the recording such as:

- What format is it, VHS, Reel, ? :
- Any idea where it was recorded? :
- Any details about the stage or can you snap a digital screen cap and post/send to me? :

Thanks!

Also, these other bands you speak of - what are some of the band names?

To be honest, it's in his wife's posession. I haven't even said anything to her yet. She's since moved a few states away, and a lot of his old stuff is in storage, so I wanted to make sure that the effort of getting it was worth it.

Also, she's recovering from a recent surgery. I'll contact her about it as soon as possible, though.

Of course it's worth the effort. Weather or not you sell it...it Ultra rare & part of Music History. Never before seen. I'm sure you will find someone & I may know just the person ...

Randy had on a red suit...that would be Port Vale Heavy Metal Holocaust, Aug 1, 1981, he wore black during Day on the Green.
Would this be the video??

The quality of the footage I saw is similar to that, but the camera is about two rows away from the stage and betwen Randy and Ozzy. I haven't seen it in a few months, but I remember that Randy had red clothes on and that it was outside.

Ive been thinking about it, and I might just post it on Youtube. I'll try to get my hands on it ASAP.

(And those obscure bands are mostly the sorts you would see in parties and bars. The Randy/Ozzy footage is really the only thing worth seeing lol.)

Please post it bro! Love watching Randy Rhoads play, You'll make a lot of people really happy if you do!

Random, Ya I think you should hold onto it. Keep us posted though. I was a friend of Randys from Burbank starting from 1970 in the 8th grade til the end. I have a page on F B 'The House that Rhoads Built' We are a very Rhoads Family based page. Check it out when you get a chance

With all due respect, being a friend of one of the greatest, and influential guitarist ever.. Why hold on to it? For what reason, so it can sit and remain unseen, or just deteriorate completely all together?
I never met the man, but I really don't think for a second Randy would want that. Or maybe in another 30 years you could get a large sum of money for it, and many of the people that want to see it will be dead, or elderly?
The Randy Rhoads release that could come out if the powers that be really went after all the privately owned audio, and video would be Tremendous, ie: The professionally recorded Southampton 1980 show that is collecting dust, Bob Daisleys unheard recordings, or the rumored Passaic New Jersey 81 black and white film, but unfortunately for whatever reason, it almost seems like the fans "aren't worthy" to enjoy all of his work. The 30 Years After The Blizzard DVD was fantastic to see the Palladium 81 footage, why did it take so long to be released?? We're not getting any younger..
Please if you truly have this footage post at least a song or two (preferably the whole thing) It could be the trigger for other people to share some audio, or video of Randy, there are some gems out there!

Anything ever come of this? Curious..

This would make a ton of people happy releasing even a minute or two of this footage.

He was my biggest musical influence, "Crazy Train" still gives me goosebumps every time I play it or listen to it. I am teaching my son how to play it with me this week. He is 10 and plays the drums and guitar. I get to make metal music with my 10 year old son. That keeps me young. RIP Randy R. A musical genius and legend that died way to soon.
