New 'Alexander' Movie Under Fire for Sexual Portrait

[font=arial,helvetica][size=-1]Oliver Stone's new film about Alexander the Great depicts the king as bisexual, fueling outrage from Greeks and prompting Hollywood to ask if a world conqueror with dyed blond hair and waxed legs will be able to attract box office hordes.


One newspaper calls it a case of "Queer Eye for the Macedonian Guy." Others have speculated that Stone, always a controversial filmmaker, is taking a big risk with a $160 million epic by including scenes of passionate embrace between Alexander and his best friend Hephaestion.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) says the film breaks new ground for a big budget epic because it shows Hephaestion "as the true love of Alexander's life." A line from the film says: "Alexander was defeated only once -- by Hephaestion's thighs."

and ha last night we spent forty minutes looking at a menu for this Greek restaurant and when I called, the Greek guy made fun of me and was like "Delivery? Yeah, if you call a taxi!" (it says Delivery on the menu) and laughed mockingly and hung up. So we made fun of Greeks for an hour and ordered from a pizza place and abused Bryant until he changed his order from a Greek salad to a regular salad.

well I heard the studio is not previewing the film to the critics and that's usually a really bad sign.

The film will probably be pretty good, but I don't think Colin Ferrel is a good actor. I saw on an interview with Letterman that this film has one of the largest battlescenes ever put on film.

Yeah, I'm not too sure about Colin Farrel either. Can an Irishman convincingly play a Macedonian world-conqueror?

colin farrell is kind of annoying. his non-irish accents always sound fake and, like woody harrelson, he happens to be of the facial type that i assumed was unattractive until women started squealing about how hot he is. so it seemed like he became a lot bigger of a celebrity than he really deserved for the stuff he's done.

Natural Born Killers was 100% pure garbage. U-turn wasn't any better. The Doors was mediocre I guess, but that was years and years ago. He was kind of okay back then, but hasn't done anything even remotely decent for 10+ years.
