Me and my better half smoked a dube and had a few drinks and saw a reggae band on Friday night at a local reggae club here in Toronto. It was fucking awesome. In addition to being top notch musicians, the music had a lot of soul/feeling. They also had a guy playing hand drums and a woman singing backup (and some lead) doing cool and odd harmonies. Their drummer was great too (I've never heard a bad or even a so-so reggae drummer, they are all fucking brilliant and so polished).

Reggae has the most disgustingly THICK grinding grove that I've ever encountered.

Anyway, reggae rocks. I'd love to hear some stuff by a progressive reggae band (there are some out there, I'm going to find one and buy their CDs) cuz even the standard stuff gets me going big time.

your friendly neighborhood antichrist,

Hey Satori, You gotta check out this group called "Todos Tus Muertos" there from Argentina and they fuse various style of music into there material like reggae, rock, spanish, some ska, little punk , tropical and some other styles that they use in there music.

The vocalist is just amazing he executes all the vocals and he does a fine job. The only thing is that its all done in spanish but beleive me it sounds really good. IF you appreciate music then there is a high probability that you will enjoy this band. MOst of there cd's are available everywhere, online there really easy obtain. OF course I would download a couple songs first just to see if your willing to buy one of there albums. Download a couple of songs from there "dale aborigen" record and also there latest one "el camino real" both fine albums.

can't abide reggae....it's alright but I don't like being subjected to it for more than an hour or two at the most....
...and I hate it that people think that just because I'm black and have dreads I'm a rasta.....ugh

Reggae definitely has the best groove :Smokedev:

I´ve been listening to reggae for the past 20 years (wow that sounded horrible, ahhhh I´m old!). Since I were 10 or so. But I am more in to the "old" style reggae of Black Uhuru, Peter Tosch, Marley and Alpha Blondy.

Hey man, what's the most insane, progressive, intense, and fucked up group/album you've ever heard? I'm partial to intricate percussion and bizarre vocals.

Black Uhuru sounds familiar, what are they like? Proggy?

thanks
