I sold my almost new Dual for a Diezel VH4.
Previously had JCM800's, Mesa Mark 2, 3 and 4, Single recto, Triple Recto, Powerball and at last the Dual Recto. The VH4 is so much better!
Why?
- Recto's scream, VH4's bark like a big mad dog.
- VH4 doesn't need a tubescreamer to be tight, Recto's do. The downside of using overdrives is that you lose body, and the clean channel suffers. And i don't like tapdancing when changing channels. So straight into the Diezel VH4. Even with passive pickups i have a hetfield-tight palmmute.
- The VH4 has a very thick (multibandcompressed) lowend. Like using the C4 in the studio. Really!! I A/B'd the Dual /VH4 when doing palmmuted chords, when you get the most lowend (HOOOOOOMMMMPP). You know, when the cabinet starts farting. Well, the Dual produces those excessive peaks in the lower area while the VH4 has this big but tight lowend without the peaks. Still you can add lots of bass, like adding lowend without the peaks.
VH4:
Channel 1 - Fender clean
Channel 2 - AC/DC, Nickleback.
Channel 3 - Hetfield, Pantera. (gainat 11 O'clock)
Channel 4 - Solo channel. Has more gain and compression.
Each channel has it own bas/mid/treble/gain/volume and effectloop (channel insert)!! Two master effectloops (serie/parallel).
All is midi-switchable, even the channel inserts.
