I need some Kyuss, where do I start?

They only have 4 albums, and only 2 of them are worth owning/listening to IMO. NAD will disagree, but then again, my opinion is more valid than his, so.... :tickled:

Get this one first (Blues For the Red Sun):

Then this one (Welcome To Sky Valley):

ALL. i don't understand the hatred toward Circus, it's probably my favorite (note: you could say that about Blues, Sky Valley, or Circus, as they are equally amazing). i mean Tangy Zizzle?! One Inch Man??!! El Rodeo?!?! Spaceship Landing?!?! that's primo Kyuss right there!

get Muchas Gracias: The Best of Kyuss. then you'll know where to go. the only one i don't listen to often is Wretch, but it's perfectly good. just doesn't have that Kyuss sound one would expect.

or i could Yousendit my NAD Picks Kyuss Classics on mp3 if you wish. :Spin:

I'm the only one hating on Circus; I just think it's poop.

And I still maintain that Kyuss might have innovated an entire style of music, but that doesn't make them the best at it. IMO, of course.

sadly .. I always hate on circus too, it was the first kyuss I heard and kept me from listening to anything else from them for a bit longer.

i've seen a lot of hate/distaste for Circus, not just here.

and while they are one of my favorite bands, they never created a masterpiece. and in a lot of ways, other stoner bands are better.

Josh Homme is pretty much a genius on guitar though, i've never seen someone be able to harness complete control of rhythm and lead at the same time. outside of the 1960's at least. :dopey:

I think I'll stick to the two first quoted albums for a start. Maybe I don't need to get everything by them, but the few songs I heard (they were off "Sky Valley") left a nice impression, and since I'm slowly getting into stoner, I guess they're pretty mandatory.

Ellestin, see that's just it. It's not like BM in that you *need* to have Kyuss to appreciate stoner/heavy/retro rock like you would *need* the essential BM releases.

There's SO much better out there, but hey, it's your cash. :D

That's cool, I hope you DO enjoy them. There's a ton of quality heavy/retro rock out there, maybe I can repay the favor (of your BM knowledge). I have tons of stoner stuff and am pretty well-versed in the style.

wellllllll, any self respecting stoner collection really does need a Kyuss album. just like my black metal collection has one Darkthrone album. which i never listen to. :dopey:
