New York, NY, Apr. 1 (UPI) -- The original lineup of the U.S. hard rock group Anthrax is reuniting for the first time since 1982.

The quintet, a hard-hitting outfit that formed in Brooklyn and helped to pioneer the rap-rock sub genre, plans to start a world tour beginning April 25 and 26 in Chicago. The group will spend most of the spring and summer in Europe and Australia before returning to North America in the fall.
"We had been thinking about ideas to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band, which was actually last year," guitarist Scott Ian said. "Everyone was really stoked to do it. There was never any bad blood between any of us. This was just the first time everyone was on the same page to get together."

Ian says this version of Anthrax -- which considered changing its name after the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. -- has not yet decided whether it will work on a new album.

-comments: Never any bad blood? Discuss.

SOUNDS LIKE COMPLETE HORSESHIT No bad blood? He has been talking shit about Joey B. for years...OK Scott, I will just ignore all those comments you made about Joey in the press over the years like I never read them. Meh Oh well, I at least got to see Anthrax with John Bush twice.

Sorry to all the old schoolers for my comments but John Bush was the only reason I liked Anthrax.

Sometimes, I think metal is a lot like the wrestling/sports entertainment business. People have tiffs and dis each other, but when it comes down to it...All is forgiven if it makes good business sense. There was never any real "bad blood," anyway.

I, for one, am happy to see the guys reunited. I can't wait to pull up the site this afternoon, and (hopefully) see a brand new photo of Charlie, Scott, Frank, Dan and Joey all together. The boys did great stuff with Bush and Rob, but I'm marking out for old school right now.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying Resunikufecin. The reunion is a good thing for the old schoolers and such and I don't mean to offend them by talking shit. I am just personally disappointed with the reunion. Oh well, there is plenty of other bands that I love so life will go on

The thing is 3 months ago I was arguing with a guy who loves Motley Crue, on How Anthrax are not sellouts... and now this.. Man I hope this is a huge April Fools Joke.. nothing would make me happeir today.

I agree 100%. I am fuckin' stoked to see the reunion!

I´ve never read any really hateful stuff from Scott, Joey or Charlie. Sure there´s been the issues about not contributing and attitude but never any real insults with the exception of Spitz who was bitter beyond belief. Hope he´s a happy camper now.

The band is not for me alone, they are trying to make a living. If they decide to record with Joey I wish them the best of luck. If John and Rob are out for good that´s sad because they put up the best show I´ve ever been to but there is not point in being bitter about a band who does things against your will. Listen to other bands or if you find none you like, learn an instrument or take singing lessons and start your own!

The hippie has spoken. :)

I am Old School and really like what Joey and Danny did with the boys. Great vocals to set Thrax apart from the original growling thrash bands and Dan's furious riffs.

All things considered though John Bush is the Fucking Man. Just listen to P&V. Rob is a great player too - I wish he would go back to the Mohawk and real big Old School one dyed on top with Flag kinda like the Exploited.

I want a new album with John and Rob and whomever takes up the bass for them. I miss Frankie but if he's kicking ass with Helmet let him just enjoy it. And I know Joey Vera is a busy man so will see. Put Jason Newkid on the album that would stir up some shit.

If Anthrax records with Joey and Dan I think they should re-record SOE becaues I think lyrically it was in the right direction but some of the music sounds forced. There's handful of tracks I wouldn't change but 60-70% needs to be re-arranged.

All this IMHO.

I never got that impression after reading the 20 questions Spitz did at Metal Sludge.

Agreed. They certainly weren't mortal enemies. Spitz wasn't ready to rip the balls off of everyone in sight.

By the way I bet my last Pilsner Urquell that the pope won´t make it to Sunday.

Pilsner Urquell fucking rules!!!

On the another note, I think I´ll get it a try and find all the interview quotes.
Let´s start with this one: "He´s dead to me now." (Scott Ian about Joey Belladonna, Metal Sludge)

Greedy sellout liars.

Quotes from Dan Spitz's 20 questions with Metal Sludge (basically the whole interview is "quotable")

"Who is more of a bitch and why, Joey Belladonna or Dan Spitz?
scotts answer:
"Dan. He's smart."
answer from me dan spitz:
Bet your ...... watch your mouth for once. Bag of big wind. Too bad you still don't realize everyone dislikes you. You should turn around faster after you talk to someone, maybe you might actually catch what they say about you. Let
someone else in what is left of the band talk for once. Try to be a little more sympathetic to peoples feelings. It couldn't hurt.

A quote from scott from his 20 questions:
Time For Metal Sludge's Word Association. We mention a name and you give us your thoughts.
Joey Belladonna - Who?
Dan Spitz - An owl hooting in the forest.
answer from me dan spitz:
The whole world can see how charlie (the brains),(not you scott) has ruined a great band and as alway's places the blame on every record company and manager involved with the band.
Without me and Joey you guy's have attained such success I'm in awe<<<<that's a sarcastic remark for all you Real Anthrax fans who remember my humour.
"Anthrax, wasn't that a band in the '80's"
That's all I hear since I have returned to the USA

3. How does one "Bring back the heaviness?"
answer from me dan spitz:
Ask Scott (a legend in his own mind), he's been trying (since I left for Switzerland, and after the big decision to part with joey) with NO SUCCESS ONLY TO FAIL TIME AFTER TIME. Take a Total album sales survey and see when the band Died!!!
Hmmmm 1995<<<< Hmmmm>>>> isn't that when I was done loving this thing we call music after 14 years or so in Anthrax?
1.4 million in sales still with me and john bush. Next album after me 80,000 sales.
DO THE MATH!!!!!!!

From Scott Ian's 20 Questions with Sludge :

Joey Belladonna - Who?
Dan Spitz - An owl hooting in the forest.

From Charlie Benante's 20 Questions with Sludge :

10. Which do you prefer:
Joey Belladonna or Dan Spitz = Help them JEEBUS. I feel weird answering this question... I'll say NEIL TURBIN and that's my final answer

20. Time for Metal Sludge's Word Association. We mention a name and you give us your thoughts.

Joey Belladonna = I always had a soft spot for him but after he pulled out of the tour this year that spot has turned to stone
Dan Spitz = I misses him sometimes but after I found out that it was him who turned joey away from us I reconsidered
