My friend is after a start up rig to get into this good fun stuff. I was thinking of sending him down the alienware path, but whilst he is happy to spend the money, at this stage all he essentially wants to do is record himself to backing tracks.
So what i'm trying to put together are the following recommendations I guess:
1 x laptop
1 x audio interface
1 x cheap speakers
Laptops with firewire are generally slightly more pricey of course (and I believe 6 pin firewire is required rather than 4 pin), he could technically get away on USB at the moment although its not the best idea for the long term...
