If death metal were a subculture

It is... and unfortuantly for the most part, here in america, it is a branch of Redneck. Now don't get me wrong i love Death Metal....but there are a lot of close minded redneck death metal "dudes"

haha. Death metal is definitly a branch if redneck. I remember when i was younger going to over to some death metal kids house and and watching them burn stuff and beat each other up while listening to morbid angel. And a lot of people who are into death metal are like that. pretty lame.

That's depressing. Absolutely no one listens to death metal where I live (that I've seen, anyway) and I've heard no mention of "death metal" as a subculture before. It would be pretty cool if it were something cool instead of the idiocy you all describe.

Not everyone who is into death metal is like that. I know a lot of people who listen to death metal, and a lot of them are real cool. It's hard to find em though. Just the other night i was up in Boston hanging out in a house full of death metal heads. and all of them were cool. Not a dumb Redneck in sight. And the funny thing is i met them through a friend of mine who is a hip-hop DJ. weird huh?

The movie "Gummo" is about hardcore rednecks in Ohio and it has this death/black metal soundtrack. The music took on a new form when it accompanied images of cats getting shot with bb guns and other white trash escapades. I can easily imagine rednecks being into death metal, it's the only music that would capture the futility of their lives.

Belial, are you going to Morbid Angel/Deicide/Zyklon/Exhumed on Wednesday at the World? It should be one of the best metal shows of the year....

Cool, that movie gummo was filmed outside Nashville, where i live. The Director is from here and also did the movie Kids. Anyway this guy i use to hang out with is in that movie cause the director just drove around looking for people. I knew that bunny boy kid....well that was a waste just thought i'd share...oh by the way in the movie kids the director is that guy at the rave wearing a Nuclear Assault shirt.

I do not think this is always the case. From what some guys i know have told me Laredo Texas and other places in texas have quite an scene going on, and at least in Laredo Texas i KNOW that most of the people are Mexican, i can hardly think in a mexican redneck. Subcultures to me work on a more local level, on a more city by city or region by region level, and by that logic redneck scenes are a minority, even among death metal because there is death metal around the globe.

I agree, I love death metal and i am not a redneck. When i said that i didn't mean everyone. I really was only talking about some of the scene around here. There are probably the redneck
sections in almost every town in america.
