Thinking an Opeth fan would like 'em.

They're quite amazing. They're prog/doom, have released two albums, both of which are really excellent, yet different in style.

Swanlike, their debut is the more Opeth-ish one, having the occasional harsh vocals and blastbeats, most tastefully executed, of course. The harsh parts are mixed a bit too low for my tastes though, could be a bit louder and clearer, but it's still good.

Their second album, Existence, took a big step towards the prog direction - they dropped the harsh vocals, and turned to a truly unique dark prog band - think new/mid-era Katatonia combined with Pain of Salvation (they're apparently touring with Pain of Salvation, too). Long, calm songs with a surpisinly large amount of catchiness.

Yeah. If you haven't checked 'em out yet, do.

They have some quite lengthy samples of most of their songs on their homepage.

Existence is of course way better than Swanlike.
Existence doesn't sound opethian at all. The songs are extremely different, but you can not judge the music only after listening to their music once.
It is in my opinion the best album in 2005 so far.

I have Existence on here but haven't listened to it really. Swanlike clearly manifests their Opeth influence, but like svish said above, there's little variety in the songs. I find myself only listening to the titletrack...I'll take a listen to Existence even though I think Pain of Salvation is a boring piece of shit.

Hmmm, it is funny how this thread even has a mod post on it, yet my similar thread instantly disappears off the face of the earth.

I've got no problems with O/T threads as long as they relate to music and through that relate back to Opeth. From the feedback I'm getting now, it seems like an admin may have done some cleaning on here, because I can't see any of the threads that people claim as deleted.

That video is some funny shit!

But, YES, Dark Suns is fantastic! Grave Human Genuine is their latest and greatest thus far! A friend of mine let me borrow Existence and I liked it a lot (haven't heard Swanlike yet). I picked up the new one, and it is completely different sounding. They're actually taking what influences they have and making them into something their very own. Also, the drummer is the lead singer, which is a little odd.

Thumbs WAY UP for me!!! I'd like to see these guys open for Opeth!

I absolutely adore Swanlike, beautiful and epic work of art. And I absolutely despise Exsistence. Fails like a fart in the face... :<

Hey they have a new one out! Didn't know that. I'm gonna go check out Grave Human Genuine, and i hope is doesn't suck.

But my gosh Swanlike is just amazing.

Yeah existence sucks balls. But i'm really surprised by the new album! Wow! They took the ideas of Existence, but this time they got it right.. I'm pleasantly surprised that Grave Human Genuine is really good!

With existence, i just find myself tuning out about a third into the album, and repeatedly cringing at the pain of salvation influences.. I would like another swanlike though.. Heh.

Edit: Oh and "Take a spoon now, just taste my spine, crunch it slowly, it's taste to refine"

wat?
