Guild Wars:

Great game. I've enjoyed playing in the beta so much I thought I'd tell you guys about it.

-Multiplayer online game like World of Warcraft
-Combines classic MMO style with a faster pace.
-No Monthly fee!
-Far less time consuming than other MMOs.
-Less equipment dependant, more skill/teamwork dependant.
-Character playstyle is highly customizable(of 6 classes you choose one primary to draw most of your abilities from, and one secondary for other abilities. Dozens of skills from each class.) Warrior, Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist, Monk, Ranger.
-Amazing graphics with minimal system requirements. I can run it at max settings with AIM and winamp running and it doesnt lag... and my computer is a few years old.
-More PvP oriented than PvE.

-In general think of a combination of World of Warcraft/Everquest, Diablo 2, and a first person shooter like Quake or Counterstrike.

All the players are in one world. There are no seperate servers. In town everyone is together. When you do a PvP match, Mission or "go out into the world" you and your group have your own instance. So you dont run around competing for monsters to kill...and you dont get laggy because everyone is in the same area. It's just you and your group. That's good and bad in ways :err:

Before a mission you choose just 8 of all your skills to take with you( just those you feel appropriate for the situation). When you get to an outpost you can change skills...so it takes a lot of planning your combos etc.

The max level is 20. You can reach this in a week or two. But most of the game is geared towards level 20 characters. So you play the game to play, not to gain more levels. There is no dessert waiting for you so you'll eat dinner...Dinner itself is enjoyable.

It's just a MMORPG lite. Less work, more fast paced and adrenaline pumping, much more competitive. Less PvE content than WoW for example... but hey no monthly fee and there will be expansions. PvP content is phenominal....random arena matches, guild tournements, protect your guild hall from invaders, touraments, etc.

It's definitely different...just dont go in expecting a full blown MMO like Everquest or a full reflex oriented game like Counterstrike... this is combination of genres.

Once it comes out in 2 weeks I'll likely quit WoW and play this.

Here's some screenshots and a page with a lot of very nice videos. The last video is a quick download and shows the game of nicely, but definitely watch them all :D
