I'm here!!!

Well, this is from Dag's thread about the remix but here it is again in case you missed it:

Nice touch-up work on the tracks. Dry and clearer vocals on the verses. The snare drum really has a presence now too. Much more in-your-face than the original mix. I like the way the guitars build up on the second verse too.

Question for Dan: Did you use the T.C. Three Way compressor on the vocals this time around?

P.S.
Did you find my cover of "So Long" to be disturbing?

Well, interesting thing here: My twin bro has always had a general dislike for metal (except prog-power metal) and progressive rock, but he got totally blown away by Moontower and Odyssey, and really likes NG. Today I sent him a link to the NG remix, and he got totally into the Tom NOuga stuff. I guess transcending taste barriers runs in the family!

I can relate. I have a friend who is not very high on metal in general, he loves music though. He plays keyboard quite well and loves to sing barber-shop style. I played moontower for him and he looked confused at first......but ended up getting a copy in days. This was many months ago and the other day he told me he still listens to it all the time.

I got a stupid unanswerable question or two for you that i prolly don't need to ask but i will :)

1. How the hell do you come up with such cool stuff from all corners of music?!?!? I am ALWAYS amazed when i hear something you wrote.

2. Which EoS album (besides crimson) is your favorite? I always liked Infernal but read a lot of reviews on amazon.com where people bash it saying it is too "soft"... I like the melodic stuff on that album A LOT! (esp. "Hell..." and the lead part starting at 1:15 on "Forever...")

3. Do you KNOW you are an amazing musician? I know a lot of really awesome musicians don't feel like they are doing anything that exceptional even though they are... and don't worry, we won't think you're an ass or something if you say "yeah, i know i can write some awesome stuff" because it is true hehe :D

hope i don't sound like a 12 year old girl at an N'sync concert tossin flowers at the band here hehe, I am just always amazed by you and Mikael Akerfieldt (my 2 fave swedes!)

Hey, Dan, I'm here, too!

Remember that crazy German guy who visited you together with Tompa? Still alive, although I should roast in hell for not updating the Nightingale homepage.
Well, my diploma is due in March, after that I will go to work again and make it all new and shiny! Promise!

:D

See ya!

Greetings to Dag, and of course to Tompa, if he should happen to stop by...

Cheers,
Marc

Hey, I have a question:

Are the missing lyrics from the Crimson-booklet (near the end of the song) available somewhere?

-Villain

I asked Dan about them once, but it seems they are not available.
Maybe this has changed, don't know.
If anybody finds them somewhere, I would be very glad to get a copy!

I've been wondering about these three things but I've been hesitant to ask them since they may be too personal. So no need to answer if they are.

How did you meet Anders Nyström, Jonas Renkse and Mikael Åkerfeldt?

Wait! i got a good question... wlel maybe not so good, but .. well a question :p what are your favorite 5-8 songs your ever wrote and had a hand in writing? muahahah have fun wuth that one, i'm sure you must like them all or else you wouldn't have written them!

Well..thank you!!!
I only write the song I wanna listen to myself. I have a strong ego when it comes to music and I just wish to entertain myself..If I entertain you at the same time, without compromizing, I am the happiest man in the world!!

I still believe that "Hell is..", "15:36" and the soft part of "The Last Song" is pure classix, right up there with "Enigma", "Crimson" and "Twilight".. I am a total wimp so I what can I say...I love GIANT...isn't that enough???

Good question...

There are moment when I fell that I can put together a really entertaining track and maybe eveb polish other bands material to fit my personal taste (and hopefully, byut doing that, also adjust it to fit anyother than me and the members of the band!!)
There's still a lot of gaps for me to fill...I won't give up until I have the composition skills of people like Tony Banks and Marillion (The way they composed when they changed my life around 88-89-90)

hope i don't sound like a 12 year old girl at an N'sync concert tossin flowers at the band here hehe, I am just always amazed by you and Mikael Akerfieldt (my 2 fave swedes!)

No worries. I like the attention...
Thanx for asking..

See you around

I met Anders and Jonas nearly 10 years ago. They popped by my little 8 track studio the summer of 1992 to record the first Katatonia demotape. They had written me a fanletter some months before and I replied and all of a sudden they booked my studio. They were here a week ago and did their parts of the Bloodbath album..Cool dudes!!!

I met Mike 9 years ago by a phonebooth in Finspång where we had our rendevouz set for guiding them to the studio overnighting apartment. We connected on the spot. Great guy.
He'll be here to do some immortal vocs in a few weeks...looking forward to that.

Dan: did you come across my e-mail regarding the new Pain CD you were gonna get from Peter T. for me? (This is Buddy, by the way). You've probably been really busy and shit, so it's no big deal, but let me know what's up when you get the chance. ROCK ON!!!! ;)

Hmm, could you throw in any guesses? I mean, part of it is pretty clear, but some words keep bugging me - if you just went and listened it through, you might perhaps recall the missing lines. Please?
