I'm looking into getting a cell phone. Which service would you recommend?

Everyone I've asked so far has told me to avoid Sprint. I've gotten ambiguous reports on Verizon and Cingular. I know nothing about T Mobile.

Alex, you're right. I used to hate the shit out of cell phones but having one instead of a land line would end up costing me less and affording me more felxibility.

I guess each area is different. Up here yonder in Green Bay Sprint is the shit while Verizon sucks ass. I have Sprint. 700 mins, unlimited nights and weekends, $30/month, no problems with service until I go out into the country in spots. But then nobody gets service in those areas.

My sprint is mediocre->OK on the east coast. I've heard Verizon does well.

i use cingular, and from time to time their reception is eh. in weird places too, like on an expressway in the city. not sure if my elderly phone has anything to do with that.
and is t-mobile basically at&t?

this is so fucking true. I was 100% anti-cell phone until 2 weeks ago. but I still won't turn my ringer on, that shit's rude.

alex, go with verizon. reliable and fairly inexpensive.

All i know is this. I was in the middle of a peacon field in Tornillo Texas, on the mexican border and I had sprint. Three of us, in the middle of nowhere, and the only guys phone that worked for MILES was the Verizon. I dropped Sprint, and got Verizon now.
