I hope the best for this release and I will give it a chance but I can't help but feel a little worried that they are referring to their past to try to sell this record. I really like this band so I hope they can deliver.

So am I!

They've been on a hot streak since Lynch exited in the late 90s. Along with Maiden, Dio, UFO, & Deep Purple, Dokken are one of the few "classic" bands that continues to release awesome material deep into the supposed "2nd half" of their career.

I'll give it a shot, but other than a few songs on Hell To Pay, I'm really not a non-Lynch-era-Dokken kinda guy. :)

I agree. At first the title had me annoyed, and now seeing that album cover....jeez. Way too similar to the Back For the Attack cover for me...

Dokken is one of the best bands out of the 80s as far as songwriting goes. Nothing will top Tooth & Nail, but I will definitely check this out. I wish I could see Don on his solo tour with Queensryche. Anyone see that and remember what he played?

I've heard from several sources that it's pretty bad. Don's really struggling and is often off key.

That said, let's hope this new Dokken disc is decent. I loved the Christmas cover they did (Santa's Coming to Town - which actually saw decent airplay at Xmas time on WRIF).

I thoroughly enjoyed Don's solo Up From The Ashes but this was coming right off of their heyday so his vocals were spot on. That album fits in well with Dokken's discography.

I had Dysfunctional for a while and it was okay, but not great. Somebody stole it from me :zombie:

i might give it a chance. i sorta liked hell to pay. erase the slate was great. shadowlife and long way home suck. dysfunctional is my favorite dokken album :kickass:

The press release on the Dokken site promises a return to their heyday and the "best Dokken CD since 1986" etc. Here's to hoping!

All I have to say to that is, someone, please name a Dokken album that was released in 1986.... :p ...and there is no way it will top Back For The Attack!

Dysfunctional, or as it was called when it was first released in Japan, "Dokken", is a really good album. I've always thought that Too High To Fly was one of the best tunes they ever wrote.
