I'm thinking of getting some new cd's, what are your thoughts on these?

Adagio - "Underworld"
Wolverine - "Cold Light of Monday"
Aesma Daeva - "The New Athens Ethos"
Atmosfear - "Inside the Atmosphere"
Atrox - "Orgasm"
Balance of Power - "Heathen Machine"
Frameshift - "Unweaving the Rainbow"
Hammers of Misfortune - "The August Engine"
Kari - "Pilot"
Kayo Dot - "Choirs of the Eye"
Neal Morse - "Testimony"
Sun Caged - S/T

Well you know the response your gonna get about Adagio... Out of those the only ones I've heard anything about are Wolverine and Sun Caged, and the overall reviews seem pretty damn good for both

Can't say I've even heard any of those cds yet besides Adagio's, and I must say, it rules. That cd is definitely a contender for my favorite disc of 2003 right now. I can't imagine any Symphony X fan not liking it with all the orchestrations and such. I am praying that they will be at the next Progpower!

Huh? Did you make up a bunch of random words and pass them off as bands or are all those real? :tickled: Only heard of a couple of those.

Adagio, yeah, awesome, yadda yadda yadda. Sun Caged - Great CD, highly recommended. I love Marcel Coenen's guitar work.

I like Adagio
I want to get the new Wolverine
Aesma Daeva - only heard of - some girl goth band?
havent heard Atmosfear (and if I have it wasnt good enough for me to remember)
Atrox - havent heard
Balance of Power - Dont like the singing
Frameshift - progrock with Labrie on vocals - ill stay away not because of Labrie, I just dont care for progrock
Hammers of whatever- havent heard
Kari - havent heard
Kayo Dot- havent heard
Neal Morse - If Christian is your thing....
Sun Caged - good but I dont find myself returning to the cd. An exhausting listen.

Adagio - "Underworld" /Killer album. GET IT! nough said

Atmosfear - "Inside the Atmosphere" / I love this album. Good vocals and great songs

Balance of Power - "Heathen Machine" /I am not shure yet QR like vocals and powerfull production. It's the songs that don't alway's do it for me.

Sun Caged - S/T /This is one killer of a prog-metal album. Great singer, al players are damn good, great songs and quality production. This one will end up in the top 5 of my yearlist. That's for sure!

Check out some of their songs here:

The Wolverine and Kayo Dot albums are among my favorites this year, the former is highly emotional and the latter is incredibly adventurous and dense musically. Adagio, Sun Caged, and Atmosfear are all solid prog metal. I've liked what I've heard of Frameshift so far, but stay away if the words "DT side project" cause revulsion. I haven't heard Atrox or Hammers Of Misfortune yet, but I've been meaning to.

As for Neal Morse, you might as well go to church every week, you'd hear the same exact thing. :)

Sun Caged - S/T one of the best prog metal cd's I have. Great songs, great production and not minutelong shredding but very good short solo's. I love Marcel Coenen's guitarwork. Vocals are also very good. I have listened it for many many times but I still can't get enough of it. Buy it! :)

I'm definately get Death Machine... I just downloaded "Seperate" from http://www.lasercd.com and it is slaying me. Incredible.

One more album I'm interested in if anybody has thoughts on it:

Green Carnation - "Blessing In Disguise"
Yes, and Zero Hour is quite awesom as well, their drummer plays for Death Machine as a side project. Can't wait for ZH's next two new albums!

BTW ProgMetalFan, have you not gotten or at least heard the new Adagio? I could of swore you were talking about how good it was with everyone else when it came out.

Also, I have heard the name Sun Caged before but didn't know anything about them, kinda thought they were thrash or something. So I might check them out myself after hearing the good compliments about it.

Dude, Jasun and Troy also play in Death Machine. That is ; Death machine is all of Zero Hour minus the singer.

one more album if anyone has thoughts on it...

Ion Vein - new album

I got a 2 song sampler... which is pretty decent... but I don't know if it's good enough to get the whole album

lol....I just listened to them as well. They are pretty good, think I will try and pick that one up too!

BTW on the Zero Hour web site it says the lineup for Death Machine and the names were not Jasun or Troy Tripton, but the drummer said Mike. So all I could relate to the two bands was that "Mike" meant Mike Guy from Zero Hour. The guitarist and bassist were not the twins though?
