Less throat, more balls. You'll kill your throat if your throat is sounding like that, learn proper voice support. If you have a good sense of voice control, you're using your diaphragm, and you're not tightening your throat around everything, and it still sounds like that... not much to say, unless your balls haven't dropped or you're a foot tall.
Rarely does sounding good solo correspond to sounding good in the mix WITH ANYTHING, maybe you could just try singing 'in the mix' with headphones and see what sounds good there... that's what just about everyone has to do.
Worst case scenario, fuck around with a lowpass and maybe bring up some mids.
