Impulse as EQ

given that there is some match eq discussion going on as of late, i started thinking about IR making. You match EQ a guitar tone and save it as an impulse and use it as a guitar cab. but really what it is is a static unchangeable EQ setting, right?
so if i were to match EQ an acoustic guitar and save that as an impulse, it should work the same as if i just had the match EQ on right? so you wouldnt be using the impulse as a cab sim, but rather just an EQ setting. i ask this cause it seems strange but also makes sense in theory.
Also match eq hogs too much cpu power and it would be more convenient to have a bunch of impulses saved and tweak them from there.

so its not unheard of to use impulses as merely an EQ?
ive never used impulses besides as a cab simulation.

Cab simulation and EQ are one in the same, my friend.

Although there is some software that includes dynamics into their cab simulation, I think.

i thought IRs were more so a function of time rather then equalization and frequency spectrums. i understand both play a factor, but it was more so about reflections.
