Well, since "superfluous" means "unnecessary", I agree. The Patriots will expose the Broncos for the pretenders they are, which will mean their win against the Steelers was truly superfluous!

I don't remember the last time I saw a performance THAT bad by a team...and I watched all the Eagles games this year.

Not that it matters now. But it also has a meaning of "being more than is sufficient or required." I used it properly. Check your definitions a little more carefully.
