Indie Band Promo Services?

anybody have experience with a good promoter that'll help you shoot your CD out and get it exposure through reviews, radio play, etc..??

a google search turned up a lot of "hack" sites - but i'd like to hear about some firsthand experiences if possible. good or bad.

also - i'm looking for a promoter that has handled other METAL bands. i think that's important so they know what online mags, stations, etc are the best places to promote and not a waste of time.

I am starting one (having a pilot band this year to see how it goes, so no requests yet), but it will only be local (Finland) for the moment. But if it turns out alright, I'll let you know

You could try www.earsplitcompound.com. They do a lot of label work but I don't know about unsigned bands.
