Inform me on Dark Horse comics, humans.

For quite nonstandard superhero fare, try J. Michael Straczynski's (Babylon 5, Jeremiah) comic series Rising Stars. He also has a quite good short series entitled Midnight Nation about a man who has his soul stolen and has to travel by foot across the continent, fighting demons on his way to confront the Devil.

Another interesting take on the superhero genre was the Warren Ellis series The Authority, sort of a superheros as super-fascists twist.

Okay so far I have read Watchmen, Wanted, Preacher, 300 and loved all of them. I suppose some more Alan Moore and Frank Miller is in order. Bring me recommendations, by those authors or others!

Check out Batman:The Killing Joke. It's by Alan Moore. It's one of the best Joker stories ever told.
