Just when we thought that pure Death Metal had vanished into mediocre melodic nonsense, things started to happen in the swedish underground. A new scene of extreme bands started to form, and the most vicious and interessting of them all are probably INSISION. Since their start in 1997, INSISION quickly gained attention in the underground as a groundbreaking band that took the whole genre back to its violent roots. With each demo INSISION built on their reputation, and they soon had a big following. A mini-Cd, some demos and a couple of line-up changes later INSISION started to get noticed all over the world, and they were ready for bigger things
The importance of INSISION is underlined by the fact that they are the first Swedish Death Metal band since the hay-days of Entombed and At the Gates to get a contract on Earache Records, unquestionable the most important Death Metal label of all times (Mordid Angel, Carcass, Napalm Death, Deicide ). The full-length debut on Earache, Beneath the Folds of Flesh, is really an assault on the senses, and has been widely acclaimed in leading genre magazines such as Terrorizer, Kerreang, Metal Hammer and Rock Hard. In fact, Terrorizer voted INSISION as one of the five most important newcomers of 2002!
Over the years INSISION has also become one of the strongest and most respected of all Swedish live-acts. The bands history contains a row of successful gigs with leading Swedish metal-acts such as Hypocrisy, Merciless, Dark Funeral, The Haunted, Deranged and Amon Amarth etc. In December of 2002 INSISION also completed their first international tour, together with Australians grind-monsters The Berzerker. During December INSISION was also scheduled for the No Mercy festival, with Marduk & Immolation. In 2002 INSISION also headlined a couple of Swedish Metal Festivals, such as Gothenburg Death-fest and the Linköping Metal Festival etc. INSISON has the reputation of being even better live than on record, and you really have to experience them to fully understand the intensity of an INSISION live performance!
At the moment INSISION is preparing songs for the next album, and are also constantly playing gigs in Sweden. Plans for further touring are also being made, and the band is contemplating some offers. Things has just started to happen and pure Death Metal is on the move again!
