Its the same type of static you hear when you play a record(vinyl) I think its nice how they added that in the background of that little acoustical piece, giving it more character which is always nice.

Thoughts?

When you play a record it doesn't necessarily scratch, unless the record is worn or it has a misprint. When you buy a new record it should be as clean as a cd and not scratch, not even between tracks!
Just wanted to point that out!

It is a cool effect, however, I would have prefered that Opeth go back to recording on actual 70's studio gear like they did Orchid and Morningrise... now that sound more authentic to me.

I think the part after that acoustic interval sounds so much like Pink Floyd. The vocals especially. Even my dad said so, long time fan of Floyd.
