Interesting reading about Chris Tsagarides

That was a really good read. To often people seem to mistake a good mix for a good production. I liked it that he explained his way of production without mentioning mixing.

Cool article.

I think the old school "standalone" producer role is rarer these days. It's more of a combo engineer/producer role these days with a single person wearing both hats (most likely due to cost/budget constraints). Back in the day, a producer hardly touched a fader and spent a lot more time focusing on the musical aspects rather than the technical which was left to the engineer for the most part. Bit of a shame sometimes as there is plenty of technically good albums out there but the songwriting and/or arrangements could have been better with the aid of a producer who doesn't have to worry so much about the engineering aspects of recording. A great engineer doesn't always make a great arranger.

That article was an enjoyable read.
