Iommi/Hughes-FUSED

It's growing on me big time, still I miss more complex solos, but nevertheless is a good album and much better than "Iommi" or "Forbidden".

My faves are: 'Deep Inside A Shell', 'What You're Living For' and 'I Go Insane' (awsome song!)

I love the record as a whole! Hughes has won me over, this guy can sing with the best of 'em! Very soulful, very melodic & powerful!
It will grow on you, this stomps the DEP Sessions...

It's a GREAT record.
Hughes owns. He's the most underrated, under-appreciated and unknown singer in the world. The man should be bigger than Elvis. ok, well not that big.

Anyway, his recent solo albums have all been steller.
Check out:

Damn right, Hugues should be inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame

It's more polished than the DEP sessions but, I felt it also like a following. I have both albums in one tape.

I've only heard the track 'Dopamine,' but to be honest I really didn't care for it at all. I'm not familiar with any of his other solo works either.

I don't think you'd care for this record. That's judging from the previous posts of likes & dislikes... I would say that you'd like DEP sessions better as, Wyvenr said it's less polished...

What a truely great album! I love the whole thing. The two have blended perfectly to create something fresh that still reminds me of Iommi's earlier stuff. What an awesome album!!!!

Perfect, that what I was looking try to say!
I haven't heard any of his recnet stuff, I suppose I should check it out...
I have heard good things about Soulmover I should pick that up. It's not released domesticaly, is that right?

Soul Mover DOES have a domestic release through Sanctuary. Most major chains should stock it.
His previous solo records are harded to come by, but Tower Records usually stocks most, if not all, of them.

Definately better than 8th Star (DEP Sessions) and much much better than "Iommi".
Not even close to 7th Star though...

This is a great album.

It's not as good as his Sabbath material (take your pick) but for 2005, especially after doing the Dinosaur Rock thing with that decrepit fossill Ozzy, relatively speaking this thing smokes.

Hughes is a bit more restrained and not doing hardly any of his his funk-y Stevie Wonder-isms that plague some of his solo releases. He sounds good.

Pick this thing up.

Really? I've always found 7th Star to be a bore-fest.

Not even close. Is very different from previous Sabbath albums, and was very 80's, but nevertheless is a neat album with strong songs, lots of melody and harmony, forceful guitar work and marvelous vocals.

Songs like 'In For A Kill', 'Turn To Stone' and 'Danger Zone' are verything but a borefest.

I think his "white Stevie Wonder" mixed with excellent hard rock is what makes him so unique. His solo records are all phenomenal (although I've never heard his first one from the 70s).
And some of his solo records are less funky than others. "Songs in the Key of Rock" (2003) is pure 70s hard rock, a la Deep Purple. "Feel" (1995) is his most funkified record. His latest, "Soul Mover" has everything. One or two funk-infested tunes, and some pure metal that rivals his work with Iommi.

All in all, he's a great musician, songwriter and amazing vocalist!
