Anyone got Dance Of Death? I've heard it a couple of times now and it's definitely a bit different from what Maiden have done before. Parts of it sound a bit folkie in places! I don't think it will become one of my favourite albums, but at least it is better than Metallica s**t offering!

The title track does sound like Blind Guardian playing tribute to Follyfoot but I like that sort of stuff so I'm not going to grumble. I also think Paschendale is awesome and the rest very ordinary.

I wholeheartedly agree that it does indeed totally whip St Anger's nu arse!

Interesting.. but they haven't got any new metal style though?? I hope not because I think I promised suicide on some thread about ST Anger if Maiden gone that way.. :loco:

I think it reminds me of some of the Maiden B-Sides, like King of Twilight. Just not as good.
Its Ok but certainly nothing spectacular.
Give up now boys why people still think your great.

Then Bruce and Adrain can do another Bruce solo album, which pisses over anything Maiden have done since Powerslave.

I got Dance of Death yesterday, and I quite like it, except for some weak choruses, and not many variations and breaks. NOOO MOOOOREEEE LIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEES NOOOO MORE...
But I like Dance of Death, and that track Montségur (I think it was named Montségur?), some more too, don't remember I have only listenened to it once.

I like Dance of Death. Its way better than I though Maiden were capable of after all these years. I think "wildest dreams" is probably the weekest track, with the rest either good or excellent. Yes it sounds like Maiden but what do you expect after 13 studio albums??? Status Quo!!! Metallica have shown what happens when you experiment (due to contractual reasons with mtv?) with the terrible st bawbag.

Chemical Wedding is certainly a brilliant album. Are there any more Bruce solo albums in that vain that are as good as Chemical Wedding?

Yes there are. Accident of Birth is similar and is almost as good in my view. Some prefer it to CW.

Also Skunkworks is amazing as well. Not a real Heavy Metal album, but if you like Soundgarden/Rush and similar heavy rock bands get it.

Now that I have listened a bit more, I have to say that Dance of Death is an excellent album, I like almost all the tracks. Track 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 11 are great, Dance of Death is probably the best, vary much variations, both in riffs, speed and style, Maiden seem to do that on a lot of the tracks, starting slow, and then speeding it up and I think it turns out good. The ending song with Journeyman is good too.

I think it's the best album they have made since Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. With track's like Wildest Dreams, Rainmaker, and the brilliant Montsegur, its definatly one of my favourite Maiden albums! I even love the title track with its brilliant melodic lead guitar solos (it got me dancing round the room playing air guitar anyway) I hope they keep going for many years to come. :hotjump:
