WOW! That was an amazing show! Judas Priest was great too. This was the first time I have seen any incarnation of Sabbath but not the first time I've seen Dio. Tony Iommi blew me away! The entire band was so solid. Dio's voice was not as good as it was, but its damn good for a guy in his mid 60s. His positive energy made up for any degradation in voice. Seems like a great guy!

Judas Priest was fantastic, but song compositions and all around musicianship, Heaven and Hell took the MVP last night. I would say the best Metal band around next to Iron Maiden. The cleaness of their sound and the perfect transitions between parts, and just the brilliance in their music. Very progressive. The Drum solo was very percussive with nice midi sounds. Defintely went beyond rock. Geezer was doing amazing bass work. Sign of the Cross was out of control!

I missed Testament and I saw Motorhead. I thought they were ok, but not my style. I like more progressive. I didn't really feel any emotion in their music. Just sounded like text book metal to me.

Priest was amazing, as its my first time seeing them. Great clothes Halford had. He kept changing them. Haha like a heavy metal Liberace! Great voice and energy.

I even ran into Danny there.

Anyways, Black Sabbath with Dio is quality music and even better live. In the metal category, I put them second to Maiden.

:lol:The Dio years with Black Sabbath weren't my favorite. The Heaven and Hell album was good. But they sounded a bit too comercialized after a certain point. Black Sabbath with Ozzy was 10 times better than the Dio era.

It is a shame you missed TestAmenT they are the best metal band out of the entire line up. TestAmenT is one of the best metal bands ever created. Alex is a god on the guitar and Chuck Billy is one of the most underrated Metal vocalists of all time.

None the less I can name many Metal bands that I like more than Heaven and Hell

Slayer
Testament
Anthrax
Sepultura
Megadeth
Queensryche
Pantera
Metallica (old)
Dio (solo)
Black Sabbath (original)
Ozzy - (until No More Tears)
AC/DC
Entombed
Shadows Fall
Lamb Of God
Carcass
Van Halen (maybe not metal?)

Those are just to name a few :headbang:

I have never been big on Judas Priest. To me they had some good stuff but were borderline cheesy. Rob Halford is a robot on stage and the whole leather and bondage gear thing really doesn't do much for me

OMG! :Smokin: The Metal Masters show was AMAZING!!!!!!! I had a completely AWESOME time!!! I was fortunate to be able to watch the Heaven and Hell performance from the stage by the sound man and just in complete awe I must say! I really enjoyed Vinnie's drum solo too! He incorporated some tracks at one point and played some Japanese Taiko drum styling over it. Just so fantastic! I spoke with his tech earlier in the day while he was finishing setting up the kit and he showed me how the drums are able to sway back and forth while he plays. It was bliss to be able to see these legends performing and sounding as good as ever!!!

Testament was killer, but the attendance should have been better if only they let the public in earlier. Everyone was still in line to get in when they were playing so they didn't get the full capacity they deserved. Motorhead was on fire! I'm enjoying the new release from these guys very much! Lemmy's son made a guest appearance on a couple songs. A very very nice guy. Priest was the highlight of the night for me!!! I haven't seen them live in ages and they sounded better than I remembered ever hearing them sound in the past! Just a great great night of some of the best music!!

Is Heaven and Hell 2nd best to Iron Maiden? They are completely different in styles to me so I cannot make a comparison. It's like saying "who's better, Nikko or Clive??" to me.

Agreed Linda but then again you know I'm a huge Black Sabbath fan Haha!Yes it may be under a different name but this IS Black Sabbath!

In my opinion, Dio Sabbath and Iron Maiden transcend the Metal genre. Very progressive. Not as good as Maiden, bt, very few bands are. Ironmaidenfan09, your right, Judas Priest s cheesy, but I think that's part of the fun. I don't think Halford takes himself too seriously. He seems great in interviews.

I really didn't get Motorhead. I didn't see what there was to like about them. I don't mean this in a mean way. I just heard a bad singer with noisy guitars. Were they having sound problems? Bruce Dickinson and Dio, these guys are amazing singers. I heard a generic garage band metal singer for Motorhead.

They are a popular band, there is obviously somthing good about them. I jsut don't get it yet.

Motorhead are legends. They are a band that are responsible for taking metal to a new level. They are raw and more 'punk' than refined bands like Dio and Iron Maiden. They are one of the biggest influences of bands like Metallica who are a combination of the raw punk sound of Motorhead mixed with the complexity of bands like Iron Maiden.

Well for someone who never listened to them, none of this was apparent that night. I may not know the history of metal and all the bands, but I do know good music, and this just wasn't very good.

Sorry to butt in on your convo but I would never of called Motorhead a Punk band. (ol skool)

Judas Priest, to me was always a bikers band, (ol skool)

DIO was at his best as DIO in my opinion. (ol skool)

Sabbath well, is bloody Sabbath. (ol skool)

Maiden:Smokedev:......what can I say, they just rock my fucking world :lol:

To me, growing up in the 80's....thats when all the bands mentioned were at their best, sept Bruce, now thats the voice of Maiden that rocks :headbang:
