Not sure if you guys were aware of this but back in September, people were arrested and charged with plots to carry out a kidnapping and public beheading in Sydney at the exact location this hostage situation is taking place.
So far there haven't been any concrete links between the incidents, but it appears to be highly likely given the previous messages from insurgents declaring war against westernized countries.

Just an insane scumbag and a corporate media that likes to drum up fear. The amount of misinformation reported in the first few hours was mind boggling. Horrible situation though. Apparently the guy was out on parole after being charged as an accomplice to his wife's murder.
