is it worth modding my old Ibanez SA120 for studio use?

here's one for the guitarists..

i was going to purchase an ec-1000 for studio use but seeing as i have this lying around i wondered if it would sound MUCH better with some emg's and upgrade the hardware?
evidently the wood quality isnt amazing but would it do the trick? is the money better spent put towards an ec-1000?

I'm an Ibanez fan but even I'd say get an ESP and don't worry about upgrading the Ibanez
